Disconnected

Have you ever felt out of sorts?
Just plain out of whack?
Not all there?
Like part of you is fading?
As if you are weighted down?
Treading....treading water?
wading...wading in quick sand?
Seeing your reflection and wonder who is this?
Driving and wondering if you should just keep going?
Stopping and not able to take a breath?
Heart racing and you haven't even moved out of bed yet?
Running and running and moving no where?
In a daze?
Rut of all ruts?
listening to people talk to you but you cant concentrate on what they are saying only that they are talking way too much?
Asking yourself why must I?
Telling yourself it'll get better tomorrow?
Laughing inside but it won't come out...because there really is no reason to laugh.
Like you just can't take another "today"?
Wondered if their "life" is anything like yours or lack there of?
As if you've been led to the water but can't drink it?
Have you ever felt out of sorts? I mean really out of sorts where you are just disconnected or disconnecting?

That's how I feel. Disconnected.

I know. I know. Nothing is as bad as it could be.

However right now my "bad" just seems to have me all out of whack.
Disconnected...in a rut of ruts.

Truly, if I was a power cord....I might just have a surge.

This is my disconnect.....Maybe I'll be reset tomorrow.

small town

It always seemed like a small town.
Everything was slow and revolved around the University.
Kinda sleepy.
I remember thinking at times I was so ready to leave.
It's one of those towns where you often know the same people most of your life.
Some how you end up knowing someone who knows someone.
Kinda nice. Can be bad to though.
I have lots of memories from this town.

When I left, I didn't feel badly about doing so. I felt so grown up moving less than two hours away to the "BIG" city. It was so fast, fresh and new there. Probably just to me at the time because well it was new to me and everything seemed so fresh because I had never seen it and well....people drove a lot faster. For that I fit right in....I tend to have a led foot.

So pretty much the only time I went back to the small town was for Doctors appointments, rival football games and sorority stuff with the chapter house on the campus there. Pretty soon I felt further and further removed from the small town.

After college I moved several times to different states. Coming back for visits to my parents home who ironically was now and had been for sometime removed from the small town and now in the "BIG" city. I would drift into the small town now only for doctor appointments and one 10 year high school reunion. The small town didn't feel like home, I had left it behind.

A few years back I was able to go visit my parents and we took a road trip to the small town. It felt differently being there with my kids. I felt a bit nostalgic. Thinking that one day it might be nice to live here with them. I found myself thinking that if we could move back to AZ that I would suggest to live here, here in this small town. My small town. I would however raise a nice maroon and gold flag in my yard if I lived in this small town.

I have started to think about what it would be like to live there. I would want my kids to go to the same private schools, especially my high school. What a special place it is. Yes. I would want all that. When it was time for college....well I would hope they would venture north of the small town. Yes. They would need to venture north.

Well those thoughts are just silly fancies that often pass the time. We are not moving anytime soon. Sigh. However, with the birth of Social Media it is nice to feel connect to people you haven't seen in so long. To reconnect, to laugh about old times and learn about new lives. It often brings up my silly fancies. Sigh.

Well this small town and people from it have been brought to mind a lot over the last few days. It has brought tears and words of prayers. I hope you have prayed for this small town too even if you don't know it or the people.

There was tragedy. Stunning tragedy that left people injured and many dead. This tragedy was horrific and led by a mad man. I not for one moment believe it was politically driven. The man. is. CRAZY.

Maybe now you might know of the small town I speak of. The small town.






I have cried for the "old pueblo" and have cried for those I didn't even know. I have cried for those I did know. Friends from high school lost their dad/dad in law in Judge Roll. Such a shame this senseless tragedy is. Sad. Sad. So very sad.

So lately this small town has been on my mind.

Seriously I might be addicted as I look for them each night. I have gotten Campbell some amazingly cute things here. And well since most of her items come with personalization I am just one happy mommy. After all you all know how much I LOVE monograms.

There are some great things here for boys and if Travis wasn't already potty trained I would be buying me some longalls for him....but when you have to be quick on the draw with a boy, these outfits don't seem to work out as well as they use to when he was a bitty boy in his cloth covered bum.

You know you love your new earrings when you will dig through the trash for them. Not once. No, not once but twice.

Yep. I found them but man it was a dirty, dirty job.

Sometimes

Sometimes my son wakes me in the midst of a dream.
Sometimes my son wakes me minutes after falling into that very state of sleep that you say "man, I just feel asleep."
Sometimes my son wakes me, rather gets me up out of bed before I can even get completely settled in.
Sometimes my son sleeps without waking me but more times than not I am awoken.

You see just about every night my son wakes me just to go pee pee.

While I am grateful for no wet sheets.....sometimes, No every time their is a bit of rough crying because he has been woken from a deep sleep. With an urgency....an urgency to pee. What he can't understand in his often hysterical screams is that I am there. Helping him. Tending to him. Awake...just for him.

Sometimes. No, every time. As tiresome as it has grown. I am grateful for that waking. You see sometimes it reminds me that he won't always need me. That there might be a time when I don't hear his screams. I won't be there to help him, tend to him, be awake just for him. On a night just like tonight, when sometimes, I can't fall right back to sleep. I think about those times and am happy to have been awoken.

Sometimes my son, no all the time, I love you.

It was a hot one!

So going to the pumpkin patch is just wrong in the heat!
There is NOTHING fall time about it.

UGH! Last year it was cool, crisp and oh so fall like. See here is proof....

This year.....hot! Did not make for good smiles during picture time.

However, we did endure the heat and found a great pumpkin.
We had laughs and high fives as we won racing ducks in the duck race.....shh! everyone wins.
Riding the train was a high point again this year. Travis did question why the train wasn't on the track which was pretty observant for a 2.75 year old....well maybe not for this one that is
TRAIN CRAZY!
The train is actually a make shift train on some four wheeler wheels.
Thinking next year the hay ride will be the winner as he may have figured out that it really is a "pretend" train.

Campbell of course made it to the top of a pumpkin pile with ease. Coming down was a bit harder but she enjoyed scaling the mountain o' pumpkin.

Both enjoyed the jumpy house with slides and meeting some goats.

Even in the heat we did enjoy our time at the pumpkin patch.
Our ending highlight was enjoying Kool Aid and Popcorn.

1. Did you watch the Olympics, and, if so, what was your favorite part?

I watched figure skating: Men's, Ladies and Couple Skate. I also enjoyed watching Apollo race round and round. My favorite part is the presentation of medals no matter who wins. Just thinking of them in that personal moment of God granted achievement makes my heart sing.

2. Favorite breakfast food?

Hash browns & Bacon...oh that's two. Sorry.

3. What irritates you the most about other drivers?

People who don't stay in their own lane when they make turns. I can't tell you how many times we have almost been hit because people don't stay in their own lane. Repeat after me...."Stay in your lane!"

4. What meal do you fall back on when you have no idea what to make for dinner?

Well, since my kids are still sometimes picky eaters. More so Travis than Campbell now. She has finally grown out of that phase but regresses some nights. I will do "breakfast for dinner." So either cheesy eggs with various sides (some nights these are cheese egg burritos) or oatmeal. For some reason my kids never grow tired of those two grocery item must have staples...Oatmeal & Eggs. For us adults on those nights we get to have whatever we want as long as it's in the house.

5. What irrational fear do you have?

I had to laugh when I saw this because well I am just a fearful person. Pretty much afraid of all that I can not control which is pretty much everything. So if I had to answer just based on the question and not let my mind wander.....It would be swimming in lakes. For some reason lake swimming just creeps me out. I jump in but need to get out ASAP!!!

6. What is the last purchase you made for yourself?

Pretty new panties. Best part....I got to get them in a smaller size!!!

7. Eggs: scrambled, over-easy, boiled, etc.?

Boiled. I love hard boiled eggs. Can't wait for that part of Easter because there is just something about a colored hard boiled egg that is a day old, kept in the fridge of course. When you peel the egg and there is dye on the white and you much it up with some table salt. Just a little slice of heaven for me. Weird. Yeah, even I think so.

What I love

I love it when my child is so excited to go to Preschool and than sings songs to me over the drive home and lunch time. It warms my heart that she is growing and learning and loving her school days.

I love it that my child is 23 months. That he is one month away from being two and all that the year of two has to offer him. Even though I am sad that year one is almost done, I am looking forward to year two!

I love that my husband works so hard and is doing all he can to be a good husband and daddy.
I love that he seems so strong when it comes to my upcoming surgery and is a good sport on days when I could just sit and cry all day.

I love that my parents are going to sacrifice so much time and have my mom here with us during my surgery and recovery times. I love that they love my kids so much.

I love that I have started to attend a bible study on Tuesday mornings. I didn't ever think that I had it in me but I really enjoy it and only wish we could video conference it over the next few weeks as I wont be able to attend.

I love that I have neighbors that care for my children like they were there own. I love that my children love my neighbors. I love that I have created new friendships and ties in my life.

I love my dog, Barley even if she gets the short end of the deal now.

I love people that have been praying for me and my family.

I have a lot of love in my heart right now and I just wanted to share it with you.

After all if you don't share your love you cant get any more in return right?
